DOPE D.O.D
IF U REMEMBER MUSIC FROM THE FIRST YEARS OF 2010S, U PROBABLY REMEMBER THE WHOLE DUBSTEP WAVE THAT FLOODED THE DANCEFLOORS AND THE WEB. DOPE D.O.D. WAS THE RAP GROUP THAT TOOK THIS WAVE AND MADE IT THEIR SOUNDTRACK.
Dope D.O.D. is a Netherlands based rap group, formed by the members Skits Vicious and Jay Reaper and the DJ Dr.Diggles.
There was a third member called Dopey Rotten who left the group in 2015.
The collective has a strong hardcore rap approach mixed with Dubstep and drum n bass inspired instrumentals, which made their sound unique and original in the first years of 2010s, when that type of music was going global thanks to producers like Skrillex.
They've been rappin since 2006 but their first real album is the 2011 "Branded", which included the single "What Happened", probably their most famous song.
With the video, the song became viral and now counts more than 30 millions views on YouTube.
They released a lot of studio albums and Ep, some of them with other collectives, like the "Shotgunz In Hell" album with the New York group Onyx and the "Battle Royale" Ep with the UK grime group Virus Syndicate.
They collaborated a lot with italian rappers, expecially with the Machete Crew which had a very similar style, influenced by hardcore and electronic music.
Even their latest single, "Scooby Doo Gang", features the italian rapper Gemitaiz.
Dope D.O.D. are a unique case in European rap, for their electronic influences and horror approach.
Their mix of aggressive bars and club beats created a combination that reminds of UK grime without copying it, and takes the teachings of the greatest hardcore rap groups, like Onyx, to the next level.
